Win NT 4 sp6 unexpected shutdown

Over the last couple of weeks our NT Server has shutdown at almost the same time every morning. Roughly 7:45 am. We thought it might be related to McAfee antivirus and installed norton corporate edition. Any ideas as to what could be causing this.

Anything showing in the Event Viewer?
Any scheduled tasks around that time?

When you say shut down, do you mean re-boots itself?
Or as if you had gone Start > Shutdown > Shutdown

Nothing different in the event viewer.

The computer power light is on but the system is locked with no video output. Computer restart is needed to bring back on line.

So, the computer hangs and you need to press the restart button to reboot?
Any new software or hardware installed recently?
How long has this been happening?
If no scheduled tasks on the server, anything on any workstation that might be accessing it?
Is the server doing anything other than acting as a file-server? i.e. is it also running a mailserver, web-proxy, etc?

    Do you have a UPS?

    There is a UPS.
This server is also Exchange 5.5 Server, web-proxy, remote access.
We just added a Windows 2000 Server to the network.
There is no one in the office when this happens.
This started 5/17 and occured on 5/20, 5/21, 5/22. All shutdowns were between 7:45 and 7:50 am.

Hmmm. The reason I asked about the UPS was in case a dip in your supply was causing something. (It is the sort of time people get into their office/factory and start turning things on.)
Have you run a thorough Chkdsk recently? You'll likely have to run it at boot-time.
    OK for disk space?
