Templates Menu in Word 2000/2002 (2000/2002)

Is it possible in Word to change the Templates Menu, for instance we want to remove all the default Word templates except for the Normal.dot. Then we want to remove all the tab except for two which we would like to rename. Can the be done?

    Thanks

You can create your own templates folder anywhere on your PC - then go to Tools-Options-File Locations and point Workgroup Templates to the folder.

You dont need to create tabs - just create folders within "template" and they will be your tabs.

To get rid of the templates Word comes with you need to go to C-Program Files-Microsoft Office-Templates - you should see there folders called the same as the tabs and a "normal" document. Do not delete normal - but you can delete the folders if you want to.

Thanks for your help, I have now got my own tabs as I wanted, but although you provided instructions for how to remove the Word default templates I can find anything in the C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeTemplates that resembles the default tabs and templates.

    Can you help?

    Thanks

Go back to File Locations and make a note of where User Templates are looking at and then look in that folder for them?

Go to Start-Find-Files or Folders and search for a folder with Faxes in the title on the C drive

It should throw up a folder called Letters and Faxes - once you see where that is located you will be able to find the rest of the folders you want to delete

You need to uninstall the templates you don't want. This is a custom install option.

You may also want to look at Template Basics for more information on using templates (like different kinds of templates, where they are stored, and how to get them to show up under the File => New dialog). Other options are explored in A Templates Menu for Word.
