Opening Excel in IE (Excel 97, IE 5.5)

I am attempting to open Excel inside of IE 5.5 however, all that I am getting no matter what I try is the Excel application launching. I want the spreadsheet viewable inside of IE. The help says I can but doesn't give any info. How can I do this?

    Hi Radelman:
I have Excel 2000, so I'm not sure if there's a difference. In Excel, go to File/Save As Web page... Then you can double click it (assuming IE is your default browser) & open it in IE.

    Hope this helps.

GetXTQ Set Up here. This allows exacrtly the change you want to make (see : Internet Explorer Hosted Files).

    Phil,
Thanks for the response. The only problem is that the goal is to pull up the Excel file as an Excel file, not as a saved web page. Still not clear on this if it can be done with Excel 97 and IE 5.5
    Any more ideas?

You could send yourself an email that contains a link to the file. Normally when clicked, it then opens in an IE window (and normally I detest that <g>).

You do know that you can stop it from opening in an IE window? Open Windows Explorer and then select Tools/Folder Options. Click on the "File types" tab and select .xls in the list. Click on the Advanced button and turn off "Browse in same Window."
