Don't know. Couldn't replicate the problem. The Check spelling button on the post/edit screen doesn't behave that way for me--it accepts the contractions without a whimper. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

    Re: Spell Checker

I'm typing this inside of Woody's to check the spelling. I don't know if that will make a difference or not. It shows no errors except "Woody's."

    Re: Spell Checker

Ok, I cut and pasted your message into a reply and ran spell checker and all were miss spelled. But when I typed the same words in to a reply and ran the spell checker all were ok.

Will you try typing in the same words and see what you get?

Are you using different keyboard defination other than the standard?

    What OS are you using?

I also just added the same words into Word XP and then cut and pasted into a reply. Ran spell checker and all came out ok. There must be some setting on your machine that is doing this.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Dave,

This is funny; I just posted a note along the same lines.

My keyboard is the same throughout, standard as far as I know.. Windows XP Pro is the OS.

    Thanks.

    Re: Spell Checker

Can AutoCorrect in Word be the culprit? The spell checker might choke on "curly quotes".

    Re: Spell Checker

I meant, if you have "curly quotes" turned on in Word, text you copy from Word to a post on the Lounge may contain curly quotes. The Lounge spell checker may not recognize them. But some tests I did just now are inconclusive, so maybe my guess was off.

    Re: Spell Checker

Did you recently install any new software? I have been having a similar problem at work ever since OL was upgraded on my machine; inconsistent treatment of apostrophes by the spell checker. It's one of those things I meant to search the Lounge on, but higher priorities have prevailed.

    Re: Spell Checker

As a lateral suggestion, have you tried to reproduce your copying over issue after you've changed your font in Word? Your apostrophes (and quotation marks) render quite differently from, say, Charlotte's - and most Lounge posts - in both IE6 and Mozilla on my machine. HTH
