    Excellent Remote Access Software

Having spent weeks trying to find
a way of running my VBA routines and consulting my
databases from any old Internet connected computer
using ASP and WSH etc I stumbled upon a secure
remote control software/webservice that enables you to operate your office machine from any computer that has a Java based browser. Unlike pcAnywhere you don't need any client software installed and the transactions between the remote machine and the office central machine are all handled with 128 bit ecryption.
You operate your home/office machine as if you were
in front of it physically, albeit more slowly (but not bad)
The machine being accessed must be on a permanent connection via cable or ISDN though.

    FYI
I tried to access this address from work and was blocked by our "Cyber Police" which reported this problem with the page:
<hr>The request was denied, as specified in the SmartFilter Content Filter configuration. The content category reported is sex.<hr>
Guess I'll have to take a look when I get home. Hope it's not all that risque...
    have fun

Well, there is a picture of a young lady, but she is studiously looking at a laptop and probably wearing more clothes than me <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>.

Is your filter literally looking at the Content meta tag?

I guess so... who knows... I'm at a brokerage clearing house and the suits here are pretty strict...
I went searching for a Rusty Wallace die cast Jack Daniels race car for Mike and they stopped me from looking because of the alcohol...
With all the fun we have here, it's a wonder they let me come back! Luckily the Word board gives me enough to prove it's all work related <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>

KT, I think our respective employers use the same filter. Can you get into http://www.pobox.com? I can't, for no apparent reason.

Don't chase your e-mail, Let it chase you! (You'll see that when you get to see the page)
    I got in... no problem (and usually I can't see anything!) <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

    Re: Excellent Remote Access Software

Im sorry and sad to say that the content filtering software (anti-spam software too) that is out there is
ridiculously inaccurate. It is wrong more than half the time. I installed MailWasher and, while it is excellent in
the way it functions, you could never rely on the automatic option for deleting spam from your server.
It classified most of my friends email as adult content!
I guess they are adults at that....

I guess my initial reaction is that $15 bucks a month is pretty expensive for remote access.

If you haven't already done it, you should check out Remote Administrator. I've been using it for a couple of months and it is a GREAT piece of software!

    Thanks for your info.
$15 (or $19) a month isn't much when you only need it
one month. (when keeping tabs on the business back
    home while on vacation).
I agree it is a lot if you keep it 12 months a year.
Radmin looks good - maybe better than pcAnywhere,
which I have already - but I can't see the essential feature I need which GotomyPc has - ability to control
the home computer from just a BROWSER.
I have never come across an Internet cafe that had
pcAnywhere client installed, without which you'r estuck.
Radmin seems to me to suffer the same drawback.
I do take my LAPTOP but, as I've often said to people:
TRY explaining to an Internet Cafe operator that their
computers aren't good enough and you want to patch
in your laptop. They get all confused. Then try again
    and explain this in Portuguese!
