    MX Proxy 2.0 Routing

I have MS Proxy 2.0 running on W2K Server. IIS and MS Proxy are setup. ADSL line is up and routes through for internet and hotmail. However I am unable to e-mail through proxy server to the workstation. I can not ping my pop and stmp remote servers also I want to be able to route different ports through my proxy server. So for example port 25 and 110. I cannot ping eg. pop.dsl.pipex.com from workstation but on server I can. What do I need to enable this. Please help??

    Re: MX Proxy 2.0 Routing

If you are using M$ mail clients, you won't be able to - they use a proprietary variation on the pop3 protocol which cannot get out thru proxy server 2.0 or indeed use the win2k ICS feature.

I've searched high and low for the MSKB link which told me this - I cannot find it at present.

I went thru the same loop - there are three choices - try Wingate proxy server, buy a mail server (I use Floositek's FTGateLite http://www.floositek.co.uk), or use an email client which can get thru the proxy.

    Maddening, isn't it! <img src=/S/wartgun.gif border=0 alt=wartgun width=73 height=24>
