    Protect Cells/Workbook (97 SR2)

    I have a user who is trying to create a spreadsheet that will allow users to only enter data in certain cells. The users cannot then change the data in other cells. She has unlocked the appropriate cells and then protected the worksheet and workbook. But, whenever a user opens it, it is a read only file. She doesn't want that. She wants the users to be able to enter data in the allowed cells and other users can then open the same file and enter data in cells too. Then they save the workbook under the same name she created.

    Am I right in thinking that if you save the workbook you are creating something like a template and you cannot then open the file and make changes to it and save it under the same name?

    Figured it out. She needed to protect the worksheet, not the workbook. We had a problem with it coming up as read only, but that was a network rights issue. Once we gave the user the appropriate network rights, all worked great.
