FileSearch on a USB drive (Excel 2002)

Ok is it possible that FileSearch will fail if you are searching on a USB hard drive?

OK I have a USB-connected external drive connected to my laptop. I tried to use FileSearch and it failed several times. During debugging I thought of changing the LookIn to my D: drive and the code worked perfectly?! <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29> I changed the LookIn to my CD-ROM letter and it worked, <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>... I went to the MSKB and searched for FileSearch and I did not get a thing <img src=/S/snore.gif border=0 alt=snore width=32 height=15>.

OK so what is the deal?

    Wassim.

Is your USB disk assigned a drive letter ?.

I tried FileSearch with a USB removable drive (Zip) and it worked without any trouble.

Yes my USB hard drive is Letter F:, and if I do something like: ChDrive "F:" it works and I can save workbooks to it, and read from it just like it was a regular HD.

    But FielSearch did not work?!

The Zip drive also gets a drive letter, but I think it may function a bit different since it knows its a removable media. What version of USB do you have? Also is it with Windows 2000?

Still speculating here, but this behavior is odd.
