When you grab an image using PrntScrn, what do you do with it? How have you saved it to your HD?

First, save the attached pic of Lex - Right_mouse over it and Save Picture As:
    C:x.gif

Hop over to the Test area and try a few posts - in the "Attach a file" box, enter:
    C:x.gif

Don't forget an attachment can be maximum 100K.
A "Ctrl Prt Scr", saved as a BMP, can be several 100K

    Re: Attachments

You can't paste the capture directly to the Lounge. After you capture the screen with Alt-PrtScrn, you'll have to open MSPaint (or an alternative paint/graphics program)and Paste it into the paint program and save it. Then as Leif and Francois point out, if you have used MSPaint, the file is saved as a bitmap (*.BMP) which can create very large-sized files. If you use another paint/graphics program, you may be able to directly save the file as a GIF or JPG after pasting it in, but if you use MSPaint, grab a copy of Irfanview to convert the BMP to a GIF or JPG, then see if that's under 100 Kb, if not trim it or shrink it.

Then attach the saved file to the Lounge message.

(I wish we could paste graphics directly to the Lounge.)

    Leif, Francois, & John,

Sorry about the delay in responding. I am out of town and just checked in to see what was happening. After reading the responses I believe I see what I did wrong. I did try to directly paste a screen capture. However I also tried to attach a word document and couldn

    Re: Attachments

After you create the file to attach, you don't paste it into the attachment box on the posting screen, you "browse" to it to and select it just as if you were finding a file in Explorer so that you can double click it and open it, the same way you would browse to a file to attach one to an e-mail program such as Outlook. Does this help?

    Re: Attachments

    John,

Thanks, it helps but that is exactly what I had been trying to do. As a matter of fact it is the first thing I tried. Right now, before I preview this the attachment box is reading "C:My DocumentsTest1.doc" without the quotes. As I said I am out of town but my computer at home did the very same thing this did when I tried an attachment. Now I'm going to do a spell check and then a preview and see if I still get the same error message.

Yes, same error message: You need to copy/paste your upload: C:MyDocumentsTest1.doc
back into the box below before Previewing, Spell-checking or Posting your message.

This time I will try attaching a file and only do a post without spell checking or previewing. Then I guess I

OK - I think what is happening is that you are attaching, then previewing? For some reason attachments are not 'remembered'.

The last thing you do is add the attachment - do your previewing then add the attachment.

    Re: Attachments

    John,

OK, that appeared to work. The only thing I did differently was to not do a spell check or a preview after I browsed to the attachment. Am I reading this error message wrong or does it seem contrary to what it is saying? You need to copy/paste your upload: C:MyDocumentsTest1.doc back into the box below before Previewing, Spell-checking or Posting your message. This error message is directly from the Lounge after doing one of the actions, a spell check or a preview with the attachment already in the attachment box, and it is in a bold red font so you can

    Leif,

Thanks. Do you agree with the note I just posted before reading your note about the error message?

    Thanks

Yes. I'll pass this on to Admin - the Help screen about making a post would also benefit by clarifying the correct procedure.

By George I think you've got it. Remember that if you forget that the attachment has to be selected immediately before the post, and consequently it did not attach, you can always edit your post and then attach the omitted attachment.

    John,

Thanks for all your help. Now when I get home I'll try to paste a screen shot with what I've learned here.

If you have a browser that is Mozilla 4+ compatible

You have. IE is such a browser in all its manifestations.

If you happen to be using some other browser, get a diagnostic app (e.g. Fresh Diagnose here and scroll to Network and Internet/Internet Settings and it will tell you. Highly unlikely, btw, that it is not .

    Cheers
