    Ansi.sys

Hope this is the right place for this query <img src=/S/question.gif border=0 alt=question width=15 height=15>. I want to use the DOS Edit utility to do a bit of batch programming. I am running Windows ME and don't appear to have a recognisable config.sys or a autoexec.bat file in which to load ansi.sys (which I have in my C: drive). Help would be welcome.

    Tim
    Thank U.
I have visted the site, printed it and it looks like the info I require.
Will read the doc after the excitement of the day.

Mike: You have hit on one of the problems incorporating "old dos" stuff with newer operating systems.
Take a look at this page: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000361.htm
and I think you will find your answer.

    Re: Ansi.sys

You can have the effect of having loaded ANSI.SYS in Windows ME. You need a utility called ANSI.EXE (several places offer it for download, search for it on Google), and then you can create a batch file that starts ANSI.EXE, then starts the EDIT program.

    Re: Ansi.sys

Thank you kind sir. Have downloaded ANSI.EXE and incorporated it into a BAT file. Works a treat.
