    Importing data from a form into Access (Office 2000)

    I want to create a questionnaire using a Word form or an Acrobat form.
    1) Is it possible to import the fields from a form (Word or Acrobat) into an Access database?
    2) If I put all the questionnaires I receive into one folder would it be possible to import the data from all the questionnaires using a script/procedure to avoid having to import them one by one?
    All suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    I can't tell you about the (im)possibility of importing Acrobat forms.

    In the case of Word forms, the answer to both questions is Yes, but you'll need VBA for that.

    1) By adding a reference to the Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library in Access (select Tools/References... in any module), you can use Word VBA in Access. You can get at the values entered usung the FormFields collection.
    2) You can use the Dir function to loop through all documents in a folder:

    Dim strDoc As String
    strDoc = Dir("path*.doc")
    Do While strDoc <> ""
    ' open doc, process doc and close it
    ' ...
    strDoc = Dir()
    Loop

    I hope this gets you on your way.

    Why not create the form in Access and avoid having to import? Most, if not all, of the models I've seen for questionnaires are highly relational and are difficult to work with in a flat file format.

    Thanks for the quick reply. I will certainly not use Acrobat for this. In the meantime, someone suggested a couple of specialized software for questionnaire/stats work. I will probably use those, less of a pain.
    Thanks again for your help.

    Well, the original idea was that the people filling in the survey might not have Access on their computers but they had Word for sure. In the meantime someone suggested a couple of specialized software for this soft of thing. I will probably go with those.
    Thanks for your help.
