    Scaled number format (Excel 2000)

First post in the lounge -

Is there a number format that scales numbers in a cell(s)? Example, raw numbers are in Millions but display in thousands (divided by 1000) as commonly shown in company annual reports.

    Welcome to the lounge!

The custom number format "0,," (no quotes) formats in millions and "0," in thousands.

Good tip. I wasn't aware that could be done, and just yesterday I was messing around with something like =round(source/1000,0) to publish such. (Now, where did I put that file ...)

Note that Round also accepts a negative last argument to round to decades:

    =ROUND(A1,-3) rounds to thousands...
