How do I delete lines? (Word 97)

Hi, I created a line using ---- and enter, that's fine. But now I've had lines popping up randomly through my article and can't delete them! Thanks to any help I can get.

The lines you create by typing ------ are actually paragraph borders. They might be duplicated when move text around by copying and pasting or dragging and dropping.

You can get rid of them as follows:

    select the paragraphs containing borders
    select Format/Borders and Shading
    select None
    click OK

Provided that you have not applied any other paragraph formatting, you can also restore selected paragraphs to the style settings by typing Ctrl+Q.

You may also want to go under your Tools menu under AutoCorrect and turn off the AutoCorrect as You Type options dealing with applying borders.

Immediately after one pops up you can hit UnDo and it will go away.
