weird database behavior (Office 97 SR-2)

There is a user in another office who claims that she sat there and saw her Access database finish populating a data entry form with information from another record. Is this possible? The data entry form was *not* programmed to do this. That office has had its back end become corrupted several times in the last 2 days, probably due to intermittent server problems they've been having. Could file corruption somehow be causing this? Has anyone heard of this kind of thing happening before? (The front end is an mde file on each user's hard drive & the back end is a shared mdb file.)

BTW, I found an excellent article on How to Repair a Damaged Jet 3.5 Database (Q279334) on support.microsoft.com.

She wouldn't happen to be trying to type French accents, would she? Cntrl-' (Control-quote) copies a field from the previous record; is that what she's seeing?

I'll ask her. But I got the impression that it was more than one field.
