Files Of Types (Office 2000 SP-1)

I run a fairly high resolution on my monitor 1152 x 864 and sometimes 1280 x 1024 and I am using normal fonts. I have the display properties adjusted so that I get a very readable display.

When I do a file open in every Office program there is always a line in the

a screen shot would help us understand exactly what you are seeing, but does it help to pull the dialog wider? I think the one in that version is resizeable.

I think this is normal behaviour for Word, with the list of 'HTML Document' types. Same thing happens on my system @ 1024*768. Might have fitted if MS had used 'HTML File' instead of 'HTML Document' .

    Macropod,

Thanks for the reply. Mine does it for all of the Office programs. You'd think there would be a way to make it readable.

    Thanks MJ.

I'll attach a screen shot as best I can. I can not resize the the dialog box. I see it went off the screen again and I still have no idea why because it is only 80 Kb

unfortunately, if the dialog is not resizable, you can't do anything about it. I don't think there is a registry entry to resize the dialog either, but i'm not at a machine with office 2000 to verify.

(The dialog in Office XP can be resized.)

    MJ,

Thanks for replying. I don't know what to search for in the Registry but I did try every setting in the screen properties and had no luck.

Whatever determines the font and font size for that dialog, it is not one of the options on the Appearance tab of the Display control panel; I tried them all.

I searched up at MS for the answer, and I almost fell off my chair laughing when I saw this (Q212386):

"...the Files of Type list shows All Word Documents(*.doc; *.dot; *.htm; *.html; *.url; * instead of..."

I guess the author of that one didn't know either - or just wanted to be completely literal about it. The answer becomes visible when you pull down the Tools menu at the top right of the Open dialog and choose Find...
