Editing ScreenTips for Cross References (Word 2000)

Does anyone know how to edit the ScreenTip for Crossreferences in a document? The Crossreferences have been inserted as hyperlinks, but I don't appear to be able to edit the ScreenTips as I can with a normal hyperlink. They display the text 'Current Document', which is not as informative as I'd like.

    Any ideas?

Sorry, Scotty -- I'm afraid not. The hyperlink is created by the /h switch within the field. Maybe one of the VBA gurus could lend a hand?

    Good luck.

I think perhaps if you cross reference a bookmark, the name of the bookmark is shown on the tooltip. So perhaps apply a suitably named bookmark to the item you wish to cross reference.

Thanks Andrew, I tried this but you are restricted in what you can name the bookmark because you can't use spaces. I want to display a small statement, something like 'View this table for a list of shortcuts', and I can't do this using bookmarks.

Crude, but might work (I haven't tried it), would be to replace each cross reference with a hyperlink. THen you can set the ScreenTips text.
