    Setting options (W97, WinNT4)

    Sorry, I'm sure I'm being extremely stupid here, but could someone tell me how to set the document_open sub so that when a user opens the document the option under Tools, Autocorrect, Autoformat as you type, 'define styles based on formatting' is set to false?

    I can only find bits about dialog boxes, but not how to set something like this!

    Many thanks in advance

    Uh - don't worry folks - almost as soon as I posted this query I worked it out!

    I simply recorded the actions of switching it on/off and then checked the macro for the code. <img src=/S/doh.gif border=0 alt=doh width=15 height=15>

    Thanks anyway!

    The instruction can be found by recording a macro and removing the settings you don't need:

    Options.AutoFormatAsYouTypeDefineStyles = False

    To execute this when a document opens:

    In the Visual Basic Editor, make sure the Project Explorer is visible (Ctrl+R)
    Expand Microsoft Word Objects
    Double click ThisDocument
    In the code window that opens, enter the following:

    Private Sub Document_Open()
    Options.AutoFormatAsYouTypeDefineStyles = False
    End Sub
