    Secret Email Notification

Is is possible to have an email sent to yourself whenever anyone opens an email you send? I know that you can do email notification, but can you have an email sent everytime an email is read?
Or, could you have an email sent to you when someone opens a word attachment?

well, if using html mail or outlook custom forms or vba macros, yes.

but not all clients will support html, use outlook, some will turn off scripting and others have the OOM guard that will warn the user that something is trying to send mail from them... word blocks macros from running in some situtations and users may have macros disabled.

bottom line... it won't be very reliable or secret (especially if they see it in the out or sent box) and it's really not a very nice thing to do.

Do you really want an e-mail? If you embed a unique .gif from your website into an HTML message, your web logs will show a hit - date, time, IP address. You could create a .gif for each message if you need that level of information. Perhaps this would be enough without having to use anything fancy?

it'll be more reliable and would also work in docs too, depending on the word version.

i can be done using an invisible gif - transparent and 1 pixel in size but i'd recommend a visible one - company logo etc, if you plan to do it. it really offends a lot of people if they feel you are being sneaky about it. even using a visible gif may offend people, but at least you aren't being underhanded.

it works best for people with full time connections, as the dialer will load if they aren't connected.
