Default Format for Callout (W97 SR2)

I am having trouble setting a default font and size for callout boxes. I format a callout, and from shortcut menu choose Set AutoShape Default. All to no avail. HELP is not HELPful.
Hope someone out there can be!

Re: Default Format for Callout (W97 SR2)

Text in callout boxes is governed by styles, like any other text in Word.

"Set AutoShape Default" sets defaults for the shape properties: fill color, line color, line style, line width, but not for the text.

If you like, you can create a Callout style with the desired text formatting. Assign this style to a toolbar button and/or keyboard shortcut. Then, after creating a callout, you can format the text in it in one fell swoop.

Thanx Hans. Your solution works fine.

Hope someone in the Microsoft Word Development team reads this, if you use callouts a lot (as I do in Instruction Manuals with graphics), this would seem to be more than a 'nice to have'.

    DD,

Another thing that might save you a little time:

Create a callout formatted just as you want it (including using a specific style for the text if you like), then save that as an autotext.

Then in the future when you need a callout, insert the autotext.
