    queries/reports involving totals (2000 SR1)

I am wondering if someone can help me with this query & then report. We run training courses (tblCourses) which have instances (tblCourseInstance) and delegates tbl(Delegates)- each separate tables. (There is also a linking table between course instance and delegates to provide a M;M relationship) I would like to design a report that shows the number of attendees of a particular type at each instance of a training course. The delegate type is found in a field of that name in tblDelegates. There are three different delegate types A, B, & C so the report should show a count of the delegates at each course instance (ie date) for each of A, B and C. I have experimented with a large number of options and can get individual reports for each delegate type OK but as separate reports only. Does anyone know how to do this? Any suggestions gratefully received.

I think a crosstab query would do what you want. I have attached a zipped Access 97 database with a demo crosstab query and a report based on the query.

You'll have to unzip and convert the database.

Note: the database is meant as a demo only. The query only includes the bare minimum, and the report was slapped together by a Report wizard without further modification.

    Hi HansV

<img src=/S/bravo.gif border=0 alt=bravo width=16 height=30> Thanks so much for this. Had tried crosstabs previously but couldn't get the results I wanted. Very grateful you spent so much time on this. When you are next in Oz let me buy you a glass of wine!

    Cheers
    Trish
