    Edit With menu button (IE6)

    Please help!

I want to add Dreamweaver to the Edit With button on the Standard Toolbar in IE6, but cannot work out how to do it.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, Laurie

    The simpleŽ way:

    1) Start button | Settings | Folder Options | File Types tab.
    2) Find and Select "HTML Document", then click the Edit button.
    3) Select the "New" Button underneath the "Actions:" list.
    4) Put the word "Edit" in the new "Action:" text line.
    5) Click on the "Browse" button and locate/select the executable file (.exe) for Dreamweaver.
    6) Hit OK, Close, and Close.
    7) Close and reopen IE for this to take effect.

That should do it. If not, let me know and we can do it the hard(er) way.

Re: Edit With menu button (IE6)

Thanks for the tip rmrucker, but I'm afraid this doesn't seem to do it.

I am using Windows 2000, so the method is slightly different, but I did get to the File Types tab in the Folder Options dialog box. I found "HTML" and clicked "Change". I was then shown a list of "Actions", but "Edit with Dreamweaver" was already there (along with Edit, Open, OpenNew, Print, Printto). I tried editing the existing Edit with Dreamweaver Action and re-selecting the executable, but got a message saying it was already there.

When I checked my Edit With button, Dreamweaver is still not there (although FrontPage, EditPlus, Notepad, Excel and Word are!).

    So, what's the hard(er) way!!

    Cheers, Laurie

Ah -- that is part of the problem. MS limits you to only FIVE HTML editors. So, you are going to have to make a choice...
