    Owner Of Files (Access2000)

I am trying to use code to find out the owner of any file on the network. I know you can go into properties on a file in explorer goto security and select permissions to find out the owner of the file but does anyone know how to access this in code or what reference will let you at this information.

Are you up to a little journey with the Windows API? If so, the function you want is GetFileSecurity. Do a search on this forum for API and you'll get several great API references. I like the API-Guide from AllAPI.net, but the site may not be available much longer.

I've not used this particular function, so I've not code to post. It may be necessary to also call LookupAccountName and InitializeSecurityDescriptor functions as well.
