Running a DVD from inside PPT presentation (PP2000)

My boss wants me to be able to link a video into her Powerpoint presentation. In most cases this would be a simple matter of insert-video - from file. But she is trying to pull it from a DVD (this is in her laptop), and it won't insert the same as other *.avi type files. In fact, the DVD file is a *.bod or something, and powerpoint doesn't even know what to make of it. I haven't had any luck associating it with the player and making it work in PowerPoint. Do I need some intercessary software? Need to know right away!
    Thanks!

Found a more recent note from Gus Collet. He suggests using Zoom Player, freeware from inmatrix.com. Here is Inmatrix's description of the player. Sorry about their ads. --Sam
