    CD Drive

When I put in a CD, eg Hallmark Cards, the drive boots up and I get the first page of the programme, but when I then attempt to go further it tells me that I have to put the CD into the drive. It's already there otherwise I wouldn't have got the home page up in the first place. It's not just this CD, it's others too. I've cleaned the CDs and also cleaned the CD drive.

I can play music CDs, although they hiccup and miss a lot!

    Any suggestions would be very welcome indeed. <img src=/S/crybaby.gif border=0 alt=crybaby width=15 height=15>

Try copying the entire contents of the CD to a (temporary) folder on your HD. If it falters there, you've got a flaky CD player I suspect.
If it does copy OK, can you run the program you want from the HD?

Thanks - tried that and after copying I still couldn't open anything (wasn't sure what to click on so tried everything!).

Oh dear! Sounds nasty - & expensive! How on earth can that happen to a 2 year old computer?

Many thanks for your very prompt response - grateful.
