Copying & pasting formulas - potential bug?! (Excel 2000)

Using a file (once brought across via Text Import Wizard), tried to copy/paste an =SUBSTITUTE formula. Formula copied OK, but results appearing in the cells equate to the original cells' result - NOT the result expected for the row in question. Why is this ? (could be a potential bug - as if an 'offending' cell is double-clicked and 'enter' pressed, then the expected result appears) How can this be overcome if the formula needs to be pasted to over 2500 entries ?

Alastair, Are you sure that you have automatic calculations turned on? (Tools | Options | Calculation tab | Automatic option button) --Sam

Excellent.....this worked first time !!! This particular problem had been bugging us for a while - but on an erratic basis (it sometimes occurred, but most of the time did not appear). We've learnt something further about Excel today......many thanks for your assistance.

Note that the calc mode of excel is set by the *first* workbook opened in any Excel session. So that may explain the irregularity with which your problem occurs.
