    John,

    Sounds like you want to use Julian dates - without the reference to the year.

    Check here for Microsoft's take on converting to a Julian date.

    It's only a start, but should get you on your way.

    Hi Tom

    You can get the Julian day number 168 via Format:

    SELECT Format(Date(),"y") AS [Day of Year];

    To get 168/197 (today) , you would do:

    Days Left: Format(Date(),"y") & "/" & Format(Int(Format(DateSerial(Year(Date()),12,31)," y"))-Int(Format(Date(),"y")),"0")
