    Setting email arrival options (2000)

I want the closed envelope to pop up in the Quick Launch Bar area when a new email message arrives. How do I do that? I have checked Tools>Options>Email Options>Advanced Email Options but am only given the ...When new items arrive>Play a Sound or>Briefly change mouse cursor. I also know I can "Display a notification message when new mail arrives" but I don't want to do that. I have the envelope feature set on my computer and want to set it on a co-workers but can't figure out the setting. What am I not doing right?
    Thanks.

It will not appear on the "Quick Launch Bar " but on the Systray area of the Task bar, which is on the right side of the task bar.

Are BOTH machines running Outlook 2000?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I knew it wasn't the Quick Lauch Bar but it was the closest think I knew to describe where I wanted it! And yes, both machines are running Outlook 2000.

tools | options | email button... maybe advanced button once you get under email options, but i think the icon should always show

Go to Tools Options Mail Services Tab, and then click on Reconfigure Mail Support.
This will show what is used on that machine

easier is help | about... the second line should say the mode. no danger of accidently changing the mode that way <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Re: Setting email arrival options (2000)

Our office has been swamped for the last day or so. Now I can finally return to my question. Yes, I've checked both computers. We both are running corporate not internet. It is strange but yesterday the coworker was getting the popup envelope. Now today she isn't. Is there anything else to check or how to I make sure the setting is correct.
    Thanks.

Re: Setting email arrival options (2000)

How I hate intermittent problems! I have run out of ideas but as it works one day and not the next perhaps we take the "fruit-salad" approach. The user logs on but no programmes open. Opens Outlook, you send a message, does the icon appear? IF so open say IE, send a message, does the icon appear?, Keep doing this for all the programmes the user normally has open.
If the icon does not appear in step one, Outlook, then I am plumb out of ideas.

Thanks! I'll try that with her and see if we can get the envelope to consistently pop up for new mail.
