    FTP Software

Looking for an easy to use free FTP programme to transfer files between our Unix box and file server. What do you recommend I look at?

    Re: FTP Software

I have been using BulletProof FTP for a number of years after trying the better known utilities, e.g., WS_FTP, CuteFTP, etc. Most people that I have referred to this application stay with it. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

I myself was using ws_ftp for a while as well, and do not think that it is very comfortable.
A cool software for more than FTP is EFCommander but it is not free. Heard good critics about BulletProof FTP as well.

    Paul,

Have been using AutoFTPPro for over a year now. Not free, but has a full-featured scheduler built in which enables you to transfer on certain days of the week i.e. Monday and Thursday, etc, and many other combinations of scheduled transfers. Resides in the system tray and once you have set up the transfers, can completely make a dialup connection, transfer, then close the connection. It is from Primasoft, I believe a search on Google should turn up their website.

    PaulC ~

I may be late on this, but I have available a small yet powerful FTP program with a very simple interface and is executable from any directory you wish w/o any installation and thus registry entries. It also includes a comprehensive help file. LeechFTP is a client with some nice features:

    Re: FTP Software

Hi Bruce, What you describe sounds good. What I am looking for is an FTP programme that I can set up on user PC's. Once set up it will connect to one directory on the Unix box, only see files that they have created (Files created using a report generator) and allow them to transfer the file back to their PC for processing by Excel.
I would be certainly like to trial your programme so can you let me know where to obtain this.
