    VBA Word97 and Numbering (VBA/Word97/SR2)

    Well,
after 12 months of smooth sailing on my requirements scanner (with thanks to this board <img src=/S/bow.gif border=0 alt=bow width=15 height=15>) I now have a small problem. One client has numbered his project requirements using styles , eg. Heading 6, Level 7 etc. so that they are of the autonumber format -n e.g. -1, -2, -3 etc.
The "find" in word does not seem to be capable of searching autonumber values. Does anyone know of a way to search a word document using VBA (I extract the sentence or paragraph and do a lot with it) so that it will consider the autonumber value in its comparison?

    Cheers

I'm not sure if this applies to Word 97

Thanks for that I have had a quick look and will try and adapt it.
I am using .selection rather than .range (for a raft of reasons I won't go into) so hopefully it will be adaptable.
The aim of the whole process is to take client supplied tender documents and process them using the scanner (which, as I recall, you helped me with last year - thanks for that) without changing them to produce a sorted table of results with either the corresponding sentence or paragraph (all these parameters and others are selected on the initial user form), relevant page number and a hyperlink to the appropriate location in the original document in a new "results" document.

This has been working fine until this little wrinkle came up.

Anyway I will try it and see how I go - will update the post once I have done so.
