Organizing IE6 favorites (6.0.2600.000)

In my Favorites I have a folder called "Links" which has three subfolders which I would like to appear in the top three positions. So far I have not been able to get them to stay put by dragging and dropping or any other method I have tried. Does anyone have any ideas how I can accomplish this?

"top three positions" of the Links folder or "top three positions" of what?

The sorting should put the folder before the links that are in the "Links" folder.

Remember that you must do the sorting using the right click of the MENU and NOT the Favorties that appear on the right side of IE when you pick the BIG Favorties STAR. Once you do the sorting close IE restart it and then restart your Favorites tool bar.

I want the folders in question to be at the top three positions in the Links folder.

My Favorites never appear on the right side of the IE screen, always on the left! I am not at all certain what you mean by "using the right click of the MENU". I tried to move the folders by accessing the Favorites/Links main folder from the Favorites menu bar, then right clicking them and dragging them to the desired new position but that did not work either.

My error , you are right, it is on the left side of the screen.

Now if you were to go to the MENU (and not the toolbar), top of screen where it says "File Edit View Favorites and...."
This is the menu area. Select "Favorites, and then slide the cursor down in the listing of favorites and then in the blank area, right click the mouse and you will see about 17 items. At the bottom the is Properties and then up one is "Sort By Name", selcect this and your listing will be sorted.

Close the Favorties area on the left side of the IE window. Close IE. Start up IE, and then open your Favorites panel by selecting the big GOLD star. You listing should now be sorted.

Thanks for the tip - for anybody following, you seem to need to do this folder by folder. Guess who's got a whole forest of sub-folders.......

Hi Bubs:
If you click the Favorites menu & then right click any folder, you'll see an option near the bottom of the context menu that says Sort By Name. Of course, if you want to sort it differently, you could first number them, but that's one folder at a time.

Cheers,

This may help you display and organize your favorites as a "homepage" and make them easier to use.
You can also customize a number of Favorites features.
