    Cell formatting (XL 2000)

Hello, I've been trying to type 1-15 into a cell. Everytime I hit enter it formats the cell into a date format. If I change it to "general" it gives me numbers. What do I need to do in order to make it read as a number range 1-15. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tira

    Re: Cell formatting (XL 2000)

You can pre-format the destination cell as Text (Format, Cells, select the Number tab and click on Text), or you can force Excel to read it as text by preceeding the input with ', (a single quote mark )as in '1-15.
