    Access Runtime (Access 2000)

We would like to start distrubuting our Access Databases in runtime but are not sure how they can be updated if the cuctomer wants a change made to forms, reports, etc after initial installation. Would appreciate any help on how you can update a runtime version of an Access Database. I have look all over the MSDN and Microsoft Knowledge Base with no luck.

    Re: Access Runtime (Access 2000)

the runtime refers to the access installation, not the actual database file. You just provide a new mdb for the user font end as per a normal distributed application.

Do a search on runtime or access executable for expanded explantions as to what the runtime version is. There have been quite a few posts in the past.

    Re: Access Runtime (Access 2000)

Are you talking about a runtime mdb application or a compiled mde? As Stewart says, the runtime part is the Access executable. If your application hasn't already been split into a front and back end, do it before you distribute the thing because you will NOT be able to give the customer an updated front end if there is data in it as well. Otherwise, you have to build another application to physically modify the customer's database on site, which is a risky proposition if anything goes wrong. Buy yourself some insurance by not doing it that way.
