    Average of fields (Access 2000)

I have 36 payment month fields in Acess db. I want to start with latest month and get average of last 6 payments. Will write VB routine.
Some people pay monthly, some quarterly, some randomly - any suggestions on how to approach it.

Use a Select TOP 6 type of query based upon the date.

What exactly does this mean? Are you saying that you have a table with 36 fields for payment months or that you have records covering 36 payment months? If the former, you've got a mess on your hands. If the table is normalized, Pat's suggestion will work nicely to get the last 6 payments. You can build a query on top of that query to calculate the average or you can do it in code.
