Blue Screen of Death (Word 2000 SR1)

Lately a lot of our users are getting the Blue Screen of Death (Fatal Exception) while either working in Word 2000 or merely opening Word 2000. Usually a couple of reboots corrects this problem (which is a problem in itself.)

Not only are they blue screening, but it seems any customizations they have made to there normal.dot gets wiped out.

Word is installed on their local. We do have a customized toolbar which is on the network that is pushed to all users but that toolbar seems to be ok. We have been running Word like this for the past 1 1/2 years The only recent software upgrade was to groupwise 6 that was done June 1, 2002.

The past couple of days we have gotten numerous calls regarding this problem.

Any thoughts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

In my experience, BSOD is due primarily to the OS, especially win98. We moved to win2k, problems disappeared.

These kinds of things can happen under so many circumstances that debugging becomes a real chore. In the past, I have had luck using a form similar to the attached. You do it on the intranet, but, if the computer is locked up, paper can be better. Hope this helps.
