table type/format (WORD 97/2000)

The answer is probably no but I would just like to ask:

I have a requirement to create a specific table format.

Is there a way of creating a table type & save it so that it appears on the list of available table formats when a new table is created or an existing table modified (using Table | Table Autoformat menu option)?

    Any input gratefully accepted.

    Thanks.
    Thanks.

The answer is no indeed, but...

Take a look at the thread starting at <!post=post 74155, 74155>post 74155<!/post>. You'll find that you can:

    - Create a table with the desired format and save it as an AutoText entry.
    - Use a download from Romke Soldaat (for W2000 only, I think) to tweak table formats

Edited by DoryO on 27-Jun-02 01:22.
The cool thing about the Autoformat (oops! meant to say AUTOTEXT!)** option is that you can also save text in the headers and anything else you need in the table. It just pops out onto your document in perfect shape ready for input. We use a "starter table" this way that has the header row and one data row all prepped for the user. They just tab down to create more rows.

But, if your table content is being imported or pasted to Word from another source then this isn't such a great solution. In that case, I've had to write VB code to fill in the cells on the "starter table".

** There is very little coolness to the AutoFormat feature.

    Thanks for your input.

OK. Microsoft doesn't make it easy but with you guys out there WOW! I like that we can at least save a table as a AUTOTEXT entry and re-use. I shall use that but it still means a lot of work but I guess I live with that (and that's what we are paid for).

    Thanks once again.
    Thanks.
