    Free Space Incorrect

Has anyone come across this problem with W98SE? When starting up the screen dimensions change to monitor (Tatung C5D) default. When scandisk is used it finds that the free space is being reported incorrectly on some but not all partitions (I have 2 drives, each with multiple partitions). The screen size has to be corrected manually and then, usually, is OK on next re-boot.

I changed my graphics card and this made no difference at all.

The system can be working OK , shutdown OK then problem shows up on restarting. Even if the free space error is on my download drive (totally separate from the programs drives) it causes the problem to show up.

HELP!! This is driving me up the wall. I am nearly at the point where I run scandisk before shuting down but not quite yet.

try adding conservativeswapfileusage=1 to the 386Enh under the sys ini from the sys config utility under system ini tab.

    hope this helps

    Re: Free Space Incorrect

Thanks for the info - unfortunately the line is already in system.ini.

I'm beginning to wonder if I have a motherboard problem. Both drives, graphics card and memory blocks are new. The processor is a Pentium II 400Mhz.
