MSProj. Duration Field Question Marks (2000)

    Hi,

In my Task List, MSProject keeps putting a Question Mark for the "Duration" field.
    Why does it do that?

    Thanks,

    m.q.

When you create a task, MS Project assigns a default duration of 1 day and displays the duration as "1 day?" to let you know that the duration is tentative. The question mark implies that the duration is, as I like to call it, an estimate. When you overwrite the duration by putting in the correct duration for the task, the ? will go away.

Note: When planning, you can also add the ? to your duration estimates. For instance, say you want to estimate a task as 10 days, you could input 10d? to remind you this is an estimate.

You can also filter on durations with a ? to look for estimated durations.
