    Networked security (2000)

I think I'm just getting to know the multi-user security features for Access. I created a database and saved it onto a networked drive and implemented the multi-user security (users and groups). the security works on my system but when I go onto another computer and try opening the database, the security feature doesn't seem to be active. What am I missing?
    thanks,
    Acede

I am not a security expert, however, I wonder if you need to use the workgroup administrator on these machines to set the security. <img src=/S/hmmn.gif border=0 alt=hmmn width=15 height=15>

    Re: Networked security (2000)

Security in Access seems to mystify lots of developers, but it really isn't that complex. The key file in security is the system.mdw file - if you want to have every one using the same security model, then they all need to be pointed to the same file on a network location, or they need to have the file copied to their local hard drive - either strategy will work. There is a security wizard that will walk you through the process of completely securing a database that is a standard part of access. On the other hand, often the only reason for using security is so you can track to made changes to what when. I would suggest you take a look at the MS knowledge base article Q207793. Also, if you do a search under Access 2000 for security in the MS knowledge base, you will find a number of articles on various aspects of security.
