Word 2000 doesn't have a feature for selecting non-continuous patches of text. If you plan to style the heading paragraphs using a Style definition, you can assign a shortcut key to it and then scroll through your document using the shortcut key to style each heading paragraph as you come to it. If you plan to style the heading paragraphs manually, I suggest defining a style instead.

I'm not sure that I have properly understood you. Would you get what you want if you...

Define a number of styles that all look the same. (Heading 1, Body Text etc.)

Enter all your text, formatting it with appropriate styles, which will at this stage all look the same.

Later you can change e.g. the Heading 1 style to make the Heading 1s look different.[/list]I can't imagine why you might want to do this?
