    PDF's from Access Reports

I'm creating Adobe PDF's from Access reports in order to email them (and not lose all my graphics). I'm 'printing' them to Adobe Distiller, and using sendkeys to save as. I'd rather use an API, as sendkeys is a bit flaky. Adobe's documentation stinks. Does anyone know of a DLL I can use?

If you are sending from Access 2000 to another user who also has Office 2000 export the report using the snapshot file type (.snp). In previous versions of Access you had to install this feature but Office 2000 it is included in the default install.

Actually, they don't need Access installed. All they require is snapview.exe which I believe you'll find on the MSOffice install disk.

Where are you using SendKeys from? If you created a PDF from Access, then are you using OLE automation from Access to try and print them? You'll probably have to post some code so we can understand what you're doing. After that it may be possible to find a different way.

No, I'm not using OLE automation. I'm just printing a report, using Acrobat Distiller as the printer (Acrobat Distiller installs itself as a printer choice, but instead of printing, you actually create a PDF). When you do this, a dialog box comes up so you can Save As, etc.

No, I'm using good old Access '97. I have a new question, tho. I never could get snapshots to work (didn't spend a lot of time on it). Do they work in '97? Does snapview.exe (see the other reply to your post) work for '97?

Yes, snapview does work in 97. I must admit, I've had mixed experiences however. At least one very complex report simply won't export to .snp

    Re: PDF's from Access Reports

I had problems trying to use snapshots in Access 97 but they are so simple in Access 2000 that it would be worth the price of an upgrade for this feature alone. Perhaps someone who has gotten snapshots to work in Access 97 would be able to explain how they did it.
