Printing Group Footer totals at the bottom of page (97, SR-2)

    Hi everyone,

Two questions, hopefully someone will come up with at least one solution.
    ================================================== ========

    Question one...
I have a report with group header and footer. Each group is started on a new page and group totals are printed in group footer. Depending on the number records group totals could print anywhere on the last page for the current group (top, in the middle, bottom or anywhere else on the page.) That's the problem, I would like group totals to print at the bottom of the page regardless how many records are before it, leaving blank lines between the last record and footer totals if necessary (similar to page footer.) I cannot use page footer since I don't want to print totals on every page.

    Question 2...
How do I reset number of pages for each group.

    For instance.
The report could have 20 pages.

Group A could have 5 pages
    Group B 10 pages
    Group C 10 pages...etc

I would like the page footer to print:

Page 1 of 5 for Group A group
Page 1 of 10 for Group B group
Page 1 of 10 for Group B group and so on.

I know how to reset Page number to 1 for each group, however, I cannot figure out how to recalculate number of pages for the individual groups.

    Any help will be greatly appreciated... <img src=/S/bingo.gif border=0 alt=bingo width=15 height=22>

Microsoft has solutions to both questions in its Knowledge Base, but they are not trivial and involve coding.

KB article Q119655 mentions three methods for displaying a group footer at the bottom of a page. The first method doesn't work if you want to display totals, but the second and third method should be OK.

KB article Q131937 has an example of calculating the number of pages in a group for Access 2. I haven't tested it, so I can't tell you if it needs to be adapted for Access 97. It involves creating a temporary table to hold the number of pages for each group.

To position the footer have a look at Helen Feddema Access Archon and dowload nr 97.
For the pages, I have no solution but if I found something I'll repost. Maybe someone else ?

There is a sample reports database you can download from Microsoft that may help you with some of your report questions. Take a look at this post for a link.
