    Link to MSKB Articles

    Greetings Admins!

Would it be possible to instate a tag which allows us to easily reference Microsoft Knowledge Base Articles? There is commonality between them all:

All links to MSKB articles use the same prefix:

    http://support.microsoft.com/search/previe...en-us;(QXXXXXX) - without parens

The thought is that perhaps an [mskb ] tag would allow us to easily refer to a particular knowledge base article.

    Thanks!

    Er, this link doesn't:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q281810
and it appears to be the norm for links I post.

    Leif,

That link you posted does work for me

(FP2002: Some Features Are Still Available After You Turn Off Compatibility Options (Q281810))

    However so does

    http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar...s/Q281/8/10.asp ,

which I think might be the correct url, even though it does translate to the the form that Drk suggested

    Hi Leif,

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;en-us;Q281810

That's the form you get when you copy it from the browser.

I recently learned that the shortest form that still works (and will be reasonably sure to work in the future) is

    http://support.microsoft.com?id=kb;en-us;Q281810

    Re: Link to MSKB Articles

The whole thing is academic anyway, in my view.
I usually quote them from having done a search - so my normal MO is to grab the URL from the address bar, and use the title for the 'text' (link type <IMG SRC=http://www.wopr.com/w3timages/url2.gif> ) thus:

FP2002: Some Features Are Still Available After You Turn Off Compatibility Options (Q281810)

Yes, it's moot on the Lounge.
If you're writing e-mails or news messages, the short URL won't break across lines.
