Page numbering problem (Word 2000)

I have an 18-page document with a page numbering problem. Although the page numbering appears to be correct in print preview, i.e., it commences on page 2 and runs consecutively through page 18 - when printed, the page numbering does not start until page 10 (where it starts numbering at "1") and continues numbering the pages "1" to the end of the document.

There are no section breaks in the document. There is a footnote at the bottom of page 9.

I tried copying the document to a new document, but it didn't solve the problem.

Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thank you,

Re: Page numbering problem (Word 2000)

Instead of doing a Select All-Paste into a new document, try this:

Ctrl-End
Ctrl-Shift-Home
Copy
Paste into a new document

This will leave behind the final paragraph marker in the document, which (I'm told) can contain lots of unnecessary formatting and problems.

I've seen this same stubborn problem in the past, and this sometimes fixes it. Sometimes removing all of the footers & section breaks then re-adding them helps. Sometimes crying really hard and threatening to throw the computer out the window if it doesn't start cooperating works, too.

I hope this helps!

It worked! (Suggestion No.#, that is!). Thank you so much!
