Temporarily Disable Pivot Tables (97 SR2)

Greetings,

I have a workbook which houses thousands of rows of data. This workbook also contains over a dozen pivot tables which rework the data.

My problem is that whenever a small change is made to the workbook, the pivot tables automatically recalculate, a process which can take upwards of 15-45 minutes.

Is it possible to temporarily disable the pivot tables so that they do not calculate until I ask them to? This is getting seriously annoying... <img src=/S/hairy.gif border=0 alt=hairy width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/aflame.gif border=0 alt=aflame width=15 height=15> Clicking on the 'design mode' icon has no effect. Any ideas?

Drk,

A Pivot Table should not spontaneously update, unless perhaps you have some code to trigger it, based on a Sheet_Change event perhaps ?

If the Pivot Tables are large and contain calc fields or calc items, would that impact the results? Drk, do you want to see if setting Tools, Options, Calculation to Manual and Recalc before Save speeds things up?
