    Page Headers and Columns (97)

I have a report that I want to break up into columns. The name of the column is Patient (not a page header or group header but just the name of the column). When I preview the report, the second column on that page does not have the Column heading (Patient). How do I extend the column heading to the second column.

I am confused by your statement "a report that I want to break up into columns". Is it not in columns now? If not, what does it look like?

If there are two columns, but only the first has the heading Patient and you want to make that heading stretch (not repeat) across to the second column, try this: Click on the column heading label and you will see sizing handles (little square, black boxes). Place your mouse pointer on the middle, right handle and it will become a two headed arrow. Drag it to the right until it is the size you want. You can use the center align button to center this heading across both columns.

If you're using snaked columns, you'll have to repeat the header labels above the both columns in the group header. There isn't any such thing as the "name" of the column. If you're using a textbox or label to display something like "Patient" in the Detail section, it won't carry over to the second column.

So how do I get the textbox or label to display "Patient" over to the second column?

In the Columns tab of the Page Settings dialog, uncheck the check box that makes the column width the same as the width of the detail section.
Next, make the report as wide as the page (minus left and right margins)
Make a copy of the "Patient" label and put it in the correct position. You'll have to experiment to get it exactly right.
