    RecordSets (Access97/2K)

Can a recordset be the recordSource for a report?
I was looking for a way to keep from populating a temp table for reports.

The RecordSource of a form or report can be a SQL string.

Officially, this is supposed to be slightly less efficient than a table or stored query (because Access can't optimize the SQL), but in many cases, you won't notice the difference.

Not in either 97 or 2000, although I believe it can in XP. However, if you're using DAO, the recordset object has a property called Name, which actually returns the SQL used to generate the recordset. You *can* set the recordsource of a report to the result of the Name property of a DAO recordset.
