print capture in WinXP (WinXP Pro)

I've been unable to locate the area for setting a print capture port in WinXP. Am I just blind, or have we now gone so far "beyond DOS" that redirecting printing for a command prompt session from LPT1: to a network printer is no longer a possibility?

    Thanks...Bob

You may need something like DefPrint
Works well on W2K - not sure about XP.

Thanks, but after an admittedly quick look at DefPrint, it appears to merely change the default Windows printer, not set a print capture for redirecting DOS output which would otherwise go to an LPT1: printer (which in this case is non-existent). I am having problems only with redirecting the stuff which an old DOS program aims at LPT1:, not changing the general Windows default printer.

How about using the NET USE command?

    <pre>NET USE LPT1: servershared_printer_name /PERSISTENT:yes</pre>
