    Display Background Setting

Before reinstalling WInME, I had a .jpeg picture of my daughter as the background image on my system. I added it by using ControlPanel/Display/Appearance/Browse and pulling it from the MyPictures folder where it is stored in both JPG and BMP formats. I can't get it to display now. I can change to any of those backgrounds provided with WinME but can't get any of my images to appear, neither jpg's nor bmp's. Anyone have any ideas? Things have really been strange after this last Format C: reinstall cycle.

    Re: Display Background Setting

In order to use anything other than a BMP file as a wallpaper, you must have the Active Desktop enabled. Is that enabled? Check your display properties - if "enable web content" is ticked then you know it's turned on.

My <img src=/S/2cents.gif border=0 alt=2cents width=15 height=15> is that I'd avoid that resource-hogging Active Desktop and convert the images to BMP - or get a program that will do wallpapers for you, such as ACDSee.

    Re: Display Background Setting

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for the response. I will use BMP files in the future, but FYI the background came up when I changed the display format from "center" to "tile". I have had Active Desktop enabled all the while. Curiouser and curiouser.
