Can't Add New Record (Access 2000)

I've been an Access2000 developer for over 5 years now and I got a problem I've never seen before. I have a subform that has child fields properly related to the main form and I can scroll throught the main form just fine but the subform itself is set for datasheet view and making record selectors visible, yet the little asteriks (*) is never visible and one can't add a new record!?! Not a good situation for a databaste. The other subforms are behaving normal and record addition is not a problem. Any ideas. Thanks in advance. Grady

Hi John, on the Data tab all options are set to yes including additions. I found a way around the problem where I just created a new subform and that worked but why on earth did the original one go wrong?
