    MSN Messenger Nuisance (5.5)

Each time I start Outlook Express or Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger magically appears in my tray. I don't have an MSN Messenger Address and it's annoying to continualy close this unwanted application. I've looked in the registry to see where this rogue program resides but can't figure out what triggers it to start on accessing the net. Perhaps it isn't OE or IE but somehow linked to the dial up connection.
Can anyone shed some light here? Frankly I'd like to uninstall the program...
